Tunis: Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi yesterday met Qatar’s Attorney-General Dr Ali ben Fetais Al Marri, who is visiting Tunisia in his capacity as UN Special Advocate for Stolen Asset Recovery.
They discussed issues pertaining to transitional justice, the rule of law and the recovery of stolen assets. Essebsi praised Emir
H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for support to the Tunisian people.
Al Marri also met the Speaker of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People, Mohamed Ennaceur, and First Deputy Abdelfattah Mourou.
Talks dealt with the work of the legislative body, including draft laws on the constitutional court and counter-terrorism.
Al Marri briefed them on efforts of the United Nations and said Tunisia is proving to be successful in terms of the Arab revolution and respect for the law and human rights.
