Doha: Over the weekend, Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Al Wakra Hospital replaced its paper patient clinical records system with an electronic Clinical Information System (CIS).
The hospital is the fifth HMC entity and third this year to go live with CIS with a comprehensive system designed in collaboration with clinicians.
The transition from paper to electronic records will require staff to gather and enter additional information from patients and this may mean appointments could take a little longer than usual in the early stages of implementation. However, to ensure patients’ experiences are as smooth as possible, the CIS team at the hospital has put processes in place and has asked for patients’ understanding and cooperation during transition.
Wilson Ross, CEO of the hospital, said his team and hospital staff are looking forward to working with the new system and are excited about its implementation.
