Lusaka: Zambian health authorities Wednesday announced that 16 people in the capital Lusaka have died from cholera, since the outbreak in February.
Lusaka Province Medical Officer Kennedy Malama said in an update that 11 people were brought dead from their homes while five died at treatment centers that have been established in the city. The number of cases has now reached 734 in the capital, he added
The official said that the Ministry of Health has since started carrying out vaccinations in areas where the waterborne disease has broken out in the city.
Cholera broke out in early February in the Zambian capital but has since spread to other areas in central, northern and Copperbelt Province.
