DOHA: The fifth International Artists Doha (IAD) spring exhibition at Qatar Foundation (QF) Recreation Centre has been attracting large crowds for the diversity and quality of works by 21 Doha-based artists from 11 countries.
Established five years ago to provide an environment for artists from overseas to meet, communicate and exhibit works, IAD is unique to Qatar for its diversity of members and their talents.
“Having been a member of IAD from the start, I have seen the group grow, not only in numbers but also in the quality of works presented, and this year sees a range of talent and diversity in the group that has never been equalled,” said Annette Wendling-Willeke, Treasurer, IAD. The expo is organised by QF which has worked with IAD for many years.
The artists include Ahmad Allawy, Annette Wendling-Willeke, Ben Barbour, Charlene Kasdorf, Dorte Meichsner, Dominika Bozic, Elham Razani, Hannelore Seckel, Jacinthe Lecomte, Jameela Al Shraim, Leila B Chaieb Elhaj, Mahesh Kumar, Nigel Muter, Sabah Arbilli, Salim Abdulla, Shahida Ahmed, Shihar Hamza, Urvashi Gaekwad Chauhan, Verity Watkins, Yousef Ellis and Willemina Mansell.
They are from Croatia, Tunisia, Iraq, Germany, Canada, India, Iran, the Netherlands, the UK, the US and Qatar and their works cover a wide range of styles from realism to abstract. Nigel Muter, Chair, IAD, said “We are at a stage where sponsorship and permanent premises could catapult the group forwards significantly.”
The exhibition is open to the public until March 26 from 8am to 8pm daily.
