Doha: The ninth session of Al Jazeera Forum will launch new activities, including the first research contest for youth under 35 from the Arab world and beyond.
The Higher Organising Committee of the forum has announced that the deadline for documents for participating in the contest, in Arabic and English, is the end of business day on Tuesday, April 10.
Contest terms include preparation of an unpublished and original research paper with 2,500 to 3,000 words on the topic ‘Change in the Arab World: Approaches and Possibilities’ along with a summary of not more than 300 words. The committee has specified that the research paper along with the completed personal information form found on the website of Al Jazeera Centre for Studies should be sent to the email address of the contest: youthplatform@aljazeera.net in word document format.
Papers sent in any other way will not be accepted, nor will they be accepted if they aren’t sent with an attached copy of the author’s passport.
The committee has said all papers will be subject to review by a panel external to Al Jazeera Media Network before the results are announced between April 25 and 30. The panel will submit a short list of the five best research papers, and their authors will be invited as special guests to the forum.
Details about the contest can be found on the forum website: http://forum.aljazeera.net
The forum, ‘Conflict and Change in the Arab world’ will be held in Doha from May 4 and 6 and will present an opportunity to highlight the network’s role in media and politics, and display its contributions as a pioneering media organisation in today’s world. It will have a broad participation of leading politicians, intellectuals, media personalities and activists from around the world.
