London - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said today that the evidence of Russia's planning to invade Ukraine is very clear.

Johnson added, in statements during his visit to Scotland, that there were increasing build-up of Russian forces along the border with Ukraine.

He added that there are many other indications that there are serious preparations to do this (the invasion), stressing that the situation is very dangerous and very difficult, however, there is still time for Russian President Vladimir Putin to back off his plans.

Johnson urged Russia to engage in a dialogue to find a solution to the crisis through diplomatic means and avoid a catastrophic invasion. At the same time, he called on Western countries to unite in their stance towards Russia, saying that Britain is at the forefront of countries seeking to unite the ranks of allies in order to impose a package of severe sanctions on Russia, if it invades Ukraine.
