Doha: Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) participated in the seventh Gulf Joint Cancer Awareness Week themed, “Your health in your fitness,” under the Gulf Union Against Cancer in co-operation with Gulf Centre for Cancer Control and Prevention.
Gulf Cancer Awareness Week is celebrated annually in the first week of February. It is aimed at fighting risk factors, encourage early detection to increase recovery rates, and unify media messages in the GCC.
Qatar Charity Association Director General, Mona Ashkanani said the event is focused on the charity’s keenness in all events and occasions that achieve its goals in raising awareness about cancer, supporting people with cancer, professional development, and scientific research.
QCS participated in the event to raise awareness about cancer-causing risk factors and encourage a healthy lifstyle among all segments of society, she added.
The event included several programmes and activities that QCS launched, the most notable being activating the electronic brochure “in all languages.. We can.” Workshops were also implemented to build the capacities of cancer awareness promoters, in addition to publishing stories of hope for people living with cancer on different platforms and engaging them in virtual workshops.
