Turkish Ambassador to Qatar Ahmet Demirok said yesterday that the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Qatar today will represent a strong push in strategic ties between the two countries.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the ambassador said that Turkey is looking forward to increase cooperation in all fields with GCC member countries in general and Qatar in particular. The ambassador highlighted trade and economic ties in particular as the two areas Turkey would like to increase cooperation in.
Erdogan will hold official talks with Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani pertaining to issues of joint interest and bilateral relations. They will also discuss regional and international issues of joint interest. The ambassador said that the Syrian crisis, developments in Yemen, and terrorism will be three topics high on the agenda of the talks, due to its negative impacts on the stability of the Middle-East.
Demirok also praised the high level of consultation between Qatar and Turkey, evident in holding regular meetings aimed at strengthening ties and shaping a shared view on current challenges facing the region. He highlighted the holding of the second meeting of Qatari-Turkish Supreme Strategic Committee, just two months ago, as a reflection of the level of cooperation.
