Doha, Qatar: The Minister of Social Affairs and Health of Finland, H E Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, led a Finnish delegation on an official visit to Qatar to explore new opportunities for cooperation in healthcare, social welfare, and innovation.

During the visit, Minister Grahn-Laasonen held high-level meetings with Qatari counterparts to discuss shared priorities in advancing health and wellbeing. Discussions with Minister of Public Health, H E Mansoor bin Ebrahim bin Saad Al Mahmoud focused on potential collaboration in the digitalisation of healthcare. Talks with Minister of Labour, H E Dr. Ali bin Saeed bin Smaikh Al Marri centred on strengthening occupational health and safety cooperation.

In coordination with the Embassy of Finland and Finnish companies, preparations were also made for Digital Health Finland’s participation in Qatar Medicare Fair, taking place in Doha from November 11–13, 2025. The event serves as a platform to highlight Finland’s digital health innovations and foster stronger partnerships with Qatari institutions and companies.

Finland is actively expanding international cooperation in digital health and telemedicine, particularly with Middle Eastern countries such as Qatar. With its advanced digital infrastructure and expertise in remote healthcare, Finland offers leading solutions in e-health services, AI-assisted diagnostics, and secure health data systems.

While no formal memorandum was signed during the visit, both sides expressed a strong commitment to continuing discussions and developing future partnerships. The meetings underscored mutual interest in innovation, sustainable health systems, and social welfare collaboration.

Qatar has made notable progress in healthcare, social affairs, and family protection. Its investments in advanced health infrastructure and services have strengthened public health and improved access to quality care. In the area of social affairs, Qatar has emphasised human rights and inclusive policies, ensuring support for families and vulnerable populations.

The Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2) reflected this ongoing commitment and positions Qatar as a key global partner in promoting social development.

Minister Grahn-Laasonen emphasised Finland’s readiness to deepen collaboration with Qatar in areas that combine technology, healthcare innovation, and social wellbeing. Finland values partnerships that advance sustainable solutions, support human-centred digital transformation, and promote equity in health and social care.

This visit marks another step forward in the growing partnership between Finland and Qatar in building resilient, inclusive, and future-ready health and social systems.
