Doha, Qatar: Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) CEO H E Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Thani Al Thani has praised the success achieved by the Spanish-language Hola Qatar Radio since its launch at QMC in November last year.

Speaking on the occasion of the radio station's first anniversary, he said the radio provided an important cultural and media experience during its first year and contributed to enhancing cultural communication and dialogue between different peoples in light of authentic Qatari national values.

He thanked the employees of Spanish radio for their efforts, stressing his full support for them to continue to achieve more successes and provide media content that builds bridges of communication between multiple cultures in the Qatar and Spanish speakers around the world.

For his part, Director of Qatar Radio, Mohammed Nasser Al Muhannadi said that the Spanish Radio “Hola Qatar” succeeded in providing rich and diverse content that meets the needs and aspirations of Spanish speakers, emphasising the commitment to providing programmes that enhance cultural and social communication.

He expressed his gratitude for the support by the QMC CEO for Continuous Broadcasting Media, and his pursuit of media excellence.

On November 2, the Spanish radio station celebrated the first anniversary of its founding, as it was established based on the vision of the Qatar Media Corporation: “We keep pace with the new and adhere to our values.” The radio targets Spanish speakers in Qatar, from Spain and Latin American countries, as a translation of the strategic partnership between Qatar and these countries in institutional projects and initiatives, and in support of introducing the culture of Qatar through diverse programmes and news content that expresses the values and authenticity of society.

The launch on November 2, 2022, before the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, was a good opportunity to welcome fans from different countries.

The programmatic content of Spanish Radio focuses on community values, especially the family, in addition to entertainment, health, sports and culture through various live and recorded programmes. Spanish Radio’s news content also keeps pace with various events such as National Day, holidays, and the month of Ramadan. The most prominent event, the 2022 World Cup, was marked by 24-hour Spanish-language news coverage.

It highlighted the country’s achievements in local, political, and economic fields, through various reports and guests representing government and private agencies, embassies, and community representatives. The radio received phone and text interventions that enriched the content and achieved interaction with the listeners.

Hola Qatar Radio employs a team that was selected based on multiple skills and experiences according to a training plan and a comprehensive preparation strategy that benefited from the pioneering experiences of the English and French radio stations in the fields of programmatic content creation, preparation of field reports, radio presentation, news editing and technical affairs.

The Spanish Radio was keen to provide news and programme content through several platforms, such as the website, which includes 24-hour radio broadcasts, and social media platforms including Facebook, X and Instagram, which enjoys continuous interaction amounting to 76,000 and a steady growth in the number of followers exceeding 7,000 followers to date.

According to those in charge of Hola Qatar, Spanish radio seeks to keep pace with developments and continuous development through the use of artificial intelligence to raise the level of productivity and reliability, achieve maximum efficiency in the workflow of radio programme production, improve the process of evaluating audio quality in programmes and news, shift to visual radio and podcasts, and automate music.
