Doha, Qatar: The second edition of the Arab Human Rights Moot Court Competition will take place from October 20 to 22, 2026. The competition is organised by the United Nations Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, affiliated with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and hosted by the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies.
The competition brings together students from universities across the Arab region aiming to raise awareness of human rights issues and develop participants’ advocacy and moot court skills through a training environment that simulates real judicial proceedings.
It also seeks to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in international human rights law through hands-on exercises aligned with relevant international standards. The competition is open to third- and fourth-year undergraduate students and master’s students enrolled in law faculties and human rights programs. Each team must comprise a minimum of two and a maximum of four students.
This year’s edition features 15 universities from 11 Arab countries: Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. A total of 48 male and female students are taking part in the competition.
This is the second edition of the competition to be hosted by the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. The event will conclude with the final round and closing session, during which the winning team will be announced, and certificates will be awarded to participating students.
