Doha, Qatar: Qatar News Agency (QNA) participated yesterday in a virtual symposium on mobile journalism, organised by the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA).
The symposium included a theoretical introduction on mobile journalism and its impact on news agencies.
It also discussed its potential benefit for news agencies.
FANA Secretary General Dr. Farid Ayar said in his inaugural speech that media outlets, particularly news agencies, should adapt to the huge developments in communications in the recent years.
He added that the symposium sought to exchange views for news agencies to benefit as real and reliable sources of news.
Mobile journalism is defined as a new style for preparing and producing audio-visual media content using a mobile phone, without the need to use professional cameras, which means that the mobile phone has become a substitute for many of the devices that were used to deliver the news to the public, Ayar said.
This type of journalism allows the media to produce many audio and video content with one device, he added, pointing out that many media specialists believe that mobile journalism had established a new era in media.
Keen to keep pace with the digital revolution, QNA has included the technical developments and tools of mobile journalism in its media content.
During the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, QNA trained its affiliates to capitalise on the modern digital devices and encouraged individual journalistic initiatives.
