Doha: Total E&P Qatar celebrated National Sport Day by holding the finals of their Internal Tennis Tournament for Men, Women and Children. The tournament which commenced on February 3 is a part of Total Cup competitions. The finals were held at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, where Total is sponsoring the 2014 Qatar Total Open.
Chhaya Beling of the Orange team won the women’s event and Natalie Hamad of the Blue team ended very close.
Jan Van Guyse of the Orange team won the men’s event, followed by Ward Beling of the Orange Team as runner-up.
The Children also showed off their skills, with Kishwar Jayakumar of the Blue team emerging victorious and Fabio Amaya of the Navy team in second place. They were all congratulated by Venus Williams, a top-seeded tennis player, for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
“I would like to congratulate the winners, finalists and all the participants of the Tennis tournament for the efforts and skills that they showed from the beginning of the series up until the finals,” said Guillaume Chalmin, Managing Director of Total E&P Qatar.
The ‘Total Cup’ tournament is a part of Total’s commitment to promote sports, physical and mental health. It will run till April 12, comprising of several events such as Walk & Run, Tug of War, Tennis, Bowling, Swimming, Broomball, football, and special tournaments for children. All the participants are divided into four teams, and the winning team is entitled to receive the tournament trophy.
The next Total Cup event will be swimming and broomball competitions which will take place in mid-March.
