Doha, Qatar: The South Kanara Muslim Welfare Association (SKMWA) Qatar successfully organized the 6th Peace Trophy Kabaddi Tournament 2025 on Friday, October 10, at the Aspire Ladies Hall, Doha. The grand sporting event brought together teams, community members, and sports enthusiasts for a full day of exciting matches and fellowship from 8am to 10pm.
The tournament featured five strong teams — Tulukoota Qatar, Maisarkar, Shanskrith, SKMWA Qatar, and Al Afiha — competing in a league format consisting of 10 league matches, followed by one semi-final and the grand final, making a total of 12 thrilling encounters.
The opening ceremony was graced by past presidents and senior members of SKMWA along with the President of Tulukoota Qatar, who jointly inaugurated the event. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address and an oath-taking ceremony led by Rashed Banbila, reaffirming the players’ commitment to fair play and team spirit.
Diwakar, the official event host, travelled all the way from Mangalore, India, to add charm and energy to the day’s proceedings. The matches were officiated by experienced referees Ratheesh and Aris, also from Mangalore, ensuring fair and professional conduct throughout the tournament.
The day’s program was anchored by Saleem Ali as Master of Ceremony (MC), who kept the audience engaged and the event flowing smoothly.
A felicitation ceremony honored Ibrahim Bhai and Firoz Bhai for their longstanding service and contributions to SKMWA.
The official evening program was attended by distinguished guests and community leaders. The Chief Guest was ICC President Manikantan, while Guests of Honour included ISC President Abdul Rahman and ICBF President Shanawaz Bawa, joined by leaders of various community organizations across Qatar.
The gathering also paid a solemn tribute to the late Hajji Mohammed Kunhi, recognizing his lifelong commitment and service to the community.
In the final showdown, Tulukoota Qatar emerged as Champions, while SKMWA Qatar secured the Runners-up title after a thrilling contest.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Rashed Banbila, expressing heartfelt appreciation to all teams, sponsors, referees, volunteers, and guests. SKMWA President Imran Bawa congratulated the organizing team for their hard work and thanked everyone who contributed to making the event a grand success.
The 6th Peace Trophy once again showcased SKMWA’s enduring commitment to promoting sportsmanship, unity, and brotherhood within the community.
