Building permits rise by 13% to 884 in September

Doha: The number of building permits issued in September by municipalities in Qatar has increased by 13 percent to 884 from 784 permits issued in the previous month (August 2022), data released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) showed.

The PSA in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality released the 93rd issue of the monthly Statistics of Building Permits and Building completion certificates issued by all municipalities in the country.

According to their geographical distribution, the municipality of Al Rayyan topped the list of municipalities with 250 building permits issued (28 percent of total issued permits), while the municipality of Al Doha came in second place with 227 permits (26 percent), followed by the municipalities of Al Wakrah with 164 permits (19 percent), and Al Da’ayen with 116 permits (13 percent). The rest of the municipalities were: Umm Slal 51 permits (6 percent), Al Khor 40 permits (5 percent), Al Sheehaniya 20 permits (2 percent), and finally Al Shammal 16 permits (2 percent).

In terms of type of permits issued, data indicated that the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitute 40 percent (356 permits) of the total building permits issued in September, while the percentage of additions permits stood at 58 percent (512 permits), and finally fencing permits with 2 percent (16 permits).

In terms of new residential buildings permits data, villas topped the list, accounting for 84 percent (231 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by apartments buildings permits by 9 percent (25 permits) and dwellings of housing loans permits by 5 percent (13 permits).

In terms of building completion certificates issued in September, the municipality of Al Rayyan topped the list of municipalities with 157 certificates issued (28 percent of total issued certificates), while Al Wakrah municipality came in second place with 131 certificates (23 percent), followed by the municipalities of Al Doha with 108 certificates (19 percent), and Al Da’ayen with 101 certificates (18 percent). The rest of the municipalities were: Umm Slal 27 certificates (5 percent), Al Khor 16 certificates (3 percent), Al Shammal 15 certificates (3 percent) and Al Sheehaniya 10 certificates (2 percent).

In terms of type of certificates issued, data indicated that the new building completion certificates (residential and non-residential) constitute 79 percent (447 certificates) of the total building certificates issued in September, while the percentage of additions certificates constitute 21 percent (118 certificates).
