Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) and Education Above All (EAA), has launched a project for sports facilities refurbishment and training project, for the benefit of Palestinian refugee youth in Lebanon, in collaboration with the American Near East Refugee Agency (ANERA).
The project provides advanced sports facilities, equipment and training activities for over 4,000 young Palestinian refugee youth with upgraded sporting facilities, equipment and activities.
ROTA will undertake the renovation of sports stadiums in the camps, support 40 sports clubs, train 45 sports coaches, and engage Palestinian youth in sports and educational tournaments.
ROTA is committed to using sport as a way for young people to reach advanced stages of non-formal education to achieve their full potential.
Essa Al Mannai, ROTA’s Executive-Director, said: “We are delighted to partner with ANERA to ensure that Palestinian refugee youth in Lebanon have safe access to sporting grounds. Sport activities provide a solid foundation for holistic learning, promote self-development, create a sense of belonging and help youth feel connected to their community.”
After a visit to the Palestinian refugee camp of Nahr Al Bared in Lebanon, Ghanem Mohamed Al Miftah, ROTA’s Goodwill Ambassador, has led a fundraising campaign in Qatar to secure QR1m to finance the project and bolster informal education for Palestinian refugee children in Lebanon.
Thanks to Al Miftah’s efforts, the needed funded were collected to contribute ROTA’s mission to utilising sport as a tool to provide youth with access to advance informal education so that they could realise their full potential.
