Doha will host on Sunday the foundation conference for Global Dryland Alliance (GDA,) with the participation of 25 delegations representing countries from the Middle East, North Africa, Sahel, Sahara, Central and Eastern Asia, South America and a number of international organizations.
The foundation treaty of the new international organization, which will be based in Doha, will be signed during the conference and will be launched as an international organization concerned with the food security of dryland countries.
The draft of the Foundation treaty of GDA was presented to the countries supporting the initiative to establish the coalition during the ministerial conference in Marrakesh in the Kingdom of Morocco at the end of May 2015 and reviewed by the participating countries.
GDA aims to develop sustainable solutions to common food security problems to common food security problems and to assist in times of distress, thereby contributing to international peace and security, as well as establishing broad cooperation with partners locally, regionally and internationally to find, deploy and implement solutions to the challenges of agriculture and water energy in dryland countries, as well as opening up public-private partnerships to finance and implement programs and projects of Member States in various areas related to food security.
