Cairo: The Arab Parliament and the Pan-African Parliament strongly condemned the attack carried out by the Israeli entity against the State of Qatar last Tuesday, stressing that such blatant aggression undermines international law, promotes the law of the jungle, and poses a threat to global security as a whole.

This came in a joint statement issued following an emergency meeting held in Cairo by the President of the Arab Parliament, Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Yammahi, and the President of the Pan-African Parliament, Chief Fortune Charumbira.

The meeting addressed the brutal attack launched by the Israeli occupation entity against the State of Qatar, as well as the ongoing war of genocide, starvation, and ethnic cleansing waged against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the war crimes committed in the West Bank.

The joint statement affirmed that the attack on the State of Qatar represents an assault on all Arab and African countries, as well as on international legitimacy, and constitutes a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and all international laws and norms.

It further condemned the ongoing war of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and starvation perpetrated by the Israeli occupation entity against the Palestinian people, which has claimed thousands of innocent lives, most of them women and children. The statement also denounced international silence and the lack of accountability, which only embolden the Israeli occupation entity to persist in its barbaric attacks and terrorist crimes.

The Arab Parliament and the Pan-African Parliament called on the international community and its institutions, particularly the United Nations and the UN Security Council, to intervene immediately to stop the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation entity in the Palestinian territories and against Arab countries.

The statement expressed support for the action taken by the Republic of South Africa in filing a lawsuit against the Israeli occupation entity before the International Court of Justice, as well as for the countries backing this move. It urged all freedom-loving nations to join this call in defense of international law and legitimacy.

The statement praised the positions of Egypt and Jordan in their categorical rejection of the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land and their opposition to all malicious attempts aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause. It also called on the countries of the free world to recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly, in order to end decades of international silence and inaction regarding the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, the statement urged all international and regional institutions, unions, and parliamentary organizations to suspend the membership of the Israeli occupation entity and its parliament, and to classify it as an entity ostracized by the international community as a whole. It stressed that the time has come to reconsider the mechanisms governing decision-making within the United Nations, particularly the UN Security Council.
