Doha, Qatar: Al Wakrah Municipality issued 17 administrative decisions for closing food outlets for violating some provisions of food regulation law during past six months.
The Municipality recorded 155 violations at the outlets following the Law No. 17 of 1990 for food monitoring regulation in the first half of this year. The municipal inspectors responded to 108 complaints immediately and inspected 168,229kg of truffles in Al Wakrah Central Market.
The Health Control Department of Al Wakrah Municipality made 6,777 inspection visits of food outlets located within the administrative borders of the municipality during the period of study.
The Health Control Department also supervised slaughter of 111,299 animals including sheep, cows and camels, inside the automated abattoir of Al Wakrah, during which 2,066 carcasses and about 41,550kg meat were destroyed.
The inspectors also examined 250,640kg of fish in Al Wakrah fish market. As many as 162,193kg of foodstuffs were destroyed after they were found unfit for human consumption.
