As Qatar provides special care to palm trees and the number of trees has increased from 334,481 in 1991 to more than 1 million in 2016. Some 673,948 of palm trees are planted inside farms.
Due to its importance as one of the national resources, the Agricultural Affairs Department gives priority by providing preventive control and treatment for all pests.
Through the Agriculture Quarantine Office at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the agricultural products are inspected and protected from in order to prevent any enter of pests.
