Kuwait: Emir of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah yesterday expressed "bitterness" and "extreme concern" over "unprecedented developments" of the Gulf crisis. The Emir said in a statement carried by Kuwait News Agency (Kuna) that he appreciates the positive reactions and messages of support of Kuwait's mediation efforts, displayed by nationals, Gulf states and the international community. These expressions of support have "relieved us" from the resulting pain and "increased our determination" to resolve the matter, added the Emir.
Sheikh Sabah underlined that the Gulf Cooperation Council accomplishments, based on the aspirations of its people, "cannot be compromised, and should be maintained and adhered to. He also affirmed that he would will not give up on his historic responsibilities towards the bloc and that he would be loyal to it until these developments are overcome, stressing that only the related parties can resolve this crisis.
