Doha: Qatar University’s (QU) College of Arts & Sciences has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hamad International Training Centre (HITC) of Hamad Medical Corporation.
The deal provides college students from the Health Sciences Department with experiential learning opportunities such as Experiential Learning Programme at the centre and its Kulluna health and safety initiative.
It was signed by Dr Eiman Mustafawi, Dean of the college, and Ali Al Janahi, Chief of Business Services, HMC, in a ceremony attended by officials from both sides. College health sciences students who have completed prerequisite courses and/or required academic experiences will be nominated to participate in the programme at HITC.
HITC will also work with the college to provide training opportunities for students enrolled in the college’s Public Health Programme to help establish a link between both parties which will engage students in university education and facilitate career opportunities following graduation.
HITC trainers will orient students and faculty on health and safety policies that apply to each area of training and provide information to ensure students’ safety at the centre and during their participation in Experiential Learning Programme.
The college and HITC will develop and promote collaboration opportunities such as involvement of students in the Kulluna initiative as part of their supervised field experience and research based on Kulluna activities. Both sides will also collaborate to design and develop student and instructor insurance policies, including health, accident and malpractice, line with requirements of HITC and QU.
Dr Mustafawi said: “We are honoured to be with you to sign the MoU that will be of benefit to our students and enrich our health sciences programme.” She said the Department of Health Sciences is a key partner in contributing to promotion of health and wellbeing in the Qatari community and advancing knowledge and methods for assessing health and associated factors within the population.
