DOHA: Ooredoo and Qatar Airways (QA) have expanded strategic partnership, with the airline moving its primary and backup data to Ooredoo’s cloud-hosting platform.
QA has moved its systems and infrastructure to the centre, which is among the most advanced in the region.
The move to Ooredoo’s platform will enable QA to deploy latest generation of cloud backup and security solutions quickly and cost-effectively in a flexible and scalable manner.
As QA continues to pursue its strategy of global growth, Ooredoo’s technology will enable it to manage growing volumes of data with confidence.
The opening of the hosting area in Ooredoo’s Qatar Data Centre 5 (QDC5) in Mesaimeer was attended by senior officials from both companies, including Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani, CEO, Ooredoo Qatar; Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive, QA; and Waleed Al Sayed, COO, Ooredoo Qatar.
Sheikh Saud said “Ooredoo has a strong working relationship with QA and the partnership gives us a perfect chance to demonstrate our leadership in data storage and business technology through our work with one of Qatar’s leading companies.
“QA has shown confidence in our network by moving its primary and backup data to Ooredoo and we look forward to working more with it in the future.”
Al Baker said: “I would like to express my gratitude to Ooredoo and my team from QA who have completed seamless transfer of QA systems and infrastructure to the centre, without any disruption to 24/7 operations of the airline.
“This move demonstrates the confidence and commitment we place in Ooredoo as a business partner, and it is my hope that the partnership will continue to grow over the years, as our airline continues its global expansion.”
