Doha, Qatar: Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie inspected the Environmental Laboratory Section of the Environmental Monitoring and Inspection Department as part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to oversee the environmental monitoring system and assess the readiness of technical laboratories supporting environmental protection and the conservation of natural resources.
During the visit, the Minister reviewed the laboratory’s operational mechanisms and its role in conducting chemical, physical, and biological analyses of environmental samples, identifying pollutants and determining their concentrations. These activities support environmental monitoring and inspection efforts and contribute to tracking the environmental status of the State.
The inspection tour included a visit to the Environmental Laboratory Section’s mini exhibition, as well as a field tour of its laboratories and technical facilities. During the tour, the Minister was briefed on procedures for receiving and analyzing samples, conducting laboratory and field tests, and implementing quality control, security, and safety measures within the laboratory.
Al Subaie commended the laboratory’s advanced technical and technological capabilities, as well as its specialised equipment and qualified national workforce. He stressed the laboratory’s vital role in providing scientific data and information that support environmental oversight and informed decision-making.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to further developing the environmental monitoring system and enhancing its technical capabilities in line with international best practices and standards, thereby supporting efforts to protect the environment and preserve its natural resources.
