Amir expresses condolences to India on plane crash in Ahmedabad

Doha, Qatar: Doha: The State of Qatar has extended heartfelt condolences to the Republic of India following the tragic crash of an Air India flight in Ahmedabad, which claimed the lives of 241 people, yesterday. 

Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani expressed his sincere condolences to the Republic of India on the victims of a plane crash in Ahmedabad.  

H H the Amir, in a post on his official X account, expressed his sincere condolences to President of the Republic of India Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi, on the victims of a plane crash in Ahmedabad. 

H H the Amir added that the State of Qatar stands with the Republic of India, its friendly people, and the families of the victims in this painful time.  

H H the Amir and Deputy Amir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani also sent  cables of condolences to  President of the Republic of India H E Droupadi Murmu and  Prime Minister of the Republic of India H E Narendra Modi, on the victims of a plane crash in Ahmedabad. 

Separately, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani sent a cable of condolences to Prime Minister of the Republic of India H E Narendra Modi, on the victims of a plane crash in Ahmedabad.  

A London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner carrying 242 people crashed yesterday in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, with officials saying that just one person survived.

Air India’s flight 171 issued a mayday call and crashed “immediately after takeoff”, around 1:40 pm (0810 GMT), agencies reported quoting the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said.

Air India said the passengers included 169 Indians, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese nationals and a Canadian. Two pilots and 10 cabin crew were also aboard.
