DOHA: Cyclone ‘Ashobaa’ expected to hit Oman’s coast today is unlikely to have an impact on Qatar except that it might lead to cloudy conditions, according to the weather bureau.
In Oman, the cyclone is being feared as it may see 100km/hour wind and bring along heavy rains. It was 160km away from the Omani coast at the time of going to press last night.
Meanwhile, the bureau has forecast a slightly dusty and windy day today with northwesterly wind moving from 18km to 36km/hour by noon.
At some places, the wind could blow up to 52km an hour.
Visibility could be as low as two km in the morning due to slight dust hanging in the air, and will improve as the day progresses.
The maximum temperature forecast is 41 degrees C (in Doha) and the minimum for the country is expected to be 27. In Doha, night temperature will be 30 degrees.
The day will be cooler in Al Ruwais where the maximum temperature has been forecast at 34 degrees, while the night will be relatively pleasant in Al Khor, Abu Samra, Al Wakra and Mesaieed, where the minimum temperature is expected around 27. The Peninsula
