Doha: The General Authority of Customs (GAC) has ensured all customs facilities are provided to traders and exhibitors at the ongoing 18th Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) at DECC. This will ensure speedy goods entry for the exhibition in accordance with the approved customs procedures.
Director of the Customs Department of Air Cargo and Private Airports, Ahmed Yousef Al Khanji, said that the GAC had formed a specialised working team in order to facilitate the procedures for entering the exhibits, since their arrival at the customs ports under the ‘temporary entry’ system, which is suspending customs duties until its exit again for re-export.
Al Khanji, who is also the Head of the Work Team of DJWE 2022, said that customs duties are collected on pieces sold only after the exhibition, and daily sales are deducted from the original invoice on the same day or the next day of sale. He said this would save time and effort on customs and exhibitors when re-exporting the remaining jewelry and watches.
Al Khanji said that customs provide clearance services through the single window system Al Nadeeb, which helps companies to carry out temporary entry tasks easily and from anywhere and at the time that suits them.
He noted that the ease of customs procedures has prompted senior representatives of international companies to participate in the exhibition.
