Christian reigns supreme at Lusail

Doha: The Qatar Cycling Federation (QCF) in conjunction with Qatar Chain Reaction organised a local time trial event on Friday in Lusail. 
Male and female riders from different ages battled the roads around new Lusail Sports Arena. 
The 12km loop, although flat, proved to be demanding due to wind and heat. 
Riders in individual time trial started in a gap of 30 seconds and were racing alone against the clock. 
The main battle was in the open men category where the riders had to do a couple of laps.
The winner was the Ironman World championships qualifier Ryan Christian (time of 30 minutes 40 seconds), 10 seconds ahead of Ahmed Albourdainy of the Qatar national team and 1 minute 46 seconds ahead of Glenn Bull (Carbon Wheels). 
Masters men also raced two laps. The fastest rider in the category was Ralf Holzer (33 minutes 23 seconds) ahead of Raymond Semple and Steve Rice. 
The winner in the ladies open category (two laps) was Jenn Wicks-Hancock (41 minutes 12’ seconds). The weekend warriors category comprised of a single lap. 
The male race was won by Ehab Al Omari (16 minutes 28 seconds) from Qatar National team ahead of team-mate Abdullah Al Khwaldah, and Gamal A Wahab respectively.
The ladies race was won by Marketa Klemmova (20 minutes 04 seconds) ahead of Kim Crawford and Qatar National team rider Joud Alouda.
The next cycling event in Qatar will be held on Friday. 
“The Inland Sea Traverse” is a yearly mountain bike event, starting 1 km from the Sealine Beach resort. 
The route will take the riders over desert highways, sandy patches and 6 dunes to the Inland Sea over a distance of 38km.
