Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has officially announced the receipt of a significant new cash endowment.

A local benefactor has contributed QR500,000 to be managed under the supervision of the Directorate. This generous contribution is designated for the “Waqf al-Waqoof” initiative, which operates under the Endowment Fund for Righteousness and Piety (Al-Birr wa Al-Taqwa). This donation represents a vital step in supporting Qatar’s national endowment system and enhancing its capacity to serve the community through sustainable financial resources.

The “Waqf al-Waqoof” initiative is built upon a visionary development model that focuses on the concept of endowment accumulation. Unlike traditional charity where funds might be spent immediately on a single cause, the returns from this specific endowment are reinvested to establish new endowment projects every single year.

This creates a perpetual cycle of growth, where the original capital remains protected while the profits are used to build additional assets. Over time, this strategy expands the total value of the endowment base, ensuring that the reach of charitable work grows wider with each passing year.

Cash endowments have become one of the most effective tools in modern Islamic investment and social development. By providing liquid capital, the General Directorate can employ these funds in well-studied investments that achieve consistent periodic returns.

These financial gains are then directed toward various fields of righteousness and humanitarian aid according to the specific conditions set by the donors. This modern approach allows for greater professional management of resources and increases the efficiency of social programs that rely on these steady streams of income.

According to the official records of the General Directorate of Endowments, this contribution marks the very first endowment initiative by this particular donor. This highlights a growing trend of citizens participating in institutionalised endowment work, moving beyond simple one-time donations toward long-term financial commitments that benefit the country’s sustainable development goals. By joining the “Waqf al-Waqoof” program, the donor ensures that their contribution acts as a “running charity” (Sadaqah Jariyah) that continues to yield rewards and social benefits long into the future.
