Doha: Australian duo of captain Aaron Finch and Shane Watson struck half centuries to help World Giants claim a thrilling two-run win over India Maharajas at Legends League Cricket at Asian Town International Stadium in Doha, yesterday.
Former Australian pacer Brett Lee bowled a brilliant final over, conceding only six runs to secure win for the Giants as Maharajas suffered their second successive defeat in the tournament, featuring retired international cricketers.
Owing to Lee’s heroics, Gautam Ghambir-led Maharajas were confined to 164-5 despite a 42-ball 68 by the captain.
Earlier, Finch fired 53 from 31 deliveries while Watson struck 55 off 32 balls to guide the World Giants to a total of 166-8 in 20 overs.
The World Giants will now take on Shahid Afridi’s Asia Lions tomorrow.
