Qatar and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Qatar's contribution in the functioning of the Unesco Regional Office in Doha, and on the financial support provided by Qatar to Unesco recently.
H E Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and Higher Education, President of the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, signed the MoU on behalf of the government of Qatar, while Unesco Director-General Irina Bokova signed for the organisation.
The signing took place during a meeting yesterday between the Education Minister and the Director-General of Unesco, who is currently visiting the country.
During the meeting, they discussed topics on the visit's agenda, including a visit to archaeological and heritage sites in Qatar such as Al Zubarah Archaeological Site.
