Taipei: Two people are dead after a rescue helicopter crashed into the sea off Taiwan's northeastern coast on Friday.

The helicopter carrying five crew members was called to check on oil spills from a freighter that ran aground Thursday.

According to fire officials, the other three crew members on board the crashed helicopter were all rescued with no serious injuries.
