Qatar focuses on solving electricity issue in Gaza

Gaza: Qatar is focusing on finding a solution to the electricity crisis in the Gaza Strip, and is considering the establishment of a hospital in Rafah, said Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi, Chairman of Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza , explaining that the Qatari grant will be directed for the services fields in the Strip.

Al Emadi said, during laying the foundation stone to the project of Hamad bin Jassim day-care centre in Gaza, that a part of the Qatari grant for the reconstruction of Gaza will be directed to the service sectors which affect the lives of residents of the Gaza Strip, adding that Qatar is considering building a hospital in Rafah.

"We are studying a project for connecting the (power line 161) to the Gaza Strip, in addition to modernising the current electricity distribution network and transformers," said Al Emadi explaining that a study is under way to establish a fully equipped hospital for cancer patients in the sector.
