Istanbul: The Qatari Society of Al-Gannas concluded its participation in the first World Ethnosport Workshop, held from October 7-10, in Istanbul, .
President of Qatari Society of Al Gannas Ali Bin Khatam Al Mahshadi said that the Society’s participation in this workshop was to highlight the richness of the Qatari heritage in falconry and hunting field, which is internationally recognised as a traditional sport. The Society’s participation was also aimed to present falconry experience in Qatar as a successful model for traditional games.
The Society had already participated in international festivals such as the World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan, in which the Society supported four traditional competitions, he added.
Vice President of Qatari Society of Al-Gannas Mohammed bin Abdul Latif Al Misnad said that the workshops held during the event were designed to accurately plan for organising traditional games around the world, while taking into account holding them in a sustained manner in various countries.
For his part, President of the World Ethnosport Confederation Bilal Erdogan praised the efforts of the State of Qatar and the Qatari Society of Al-Gannas in the field of falconry and other traditional sports.
