BERLIN: Qatar today introduced the German MPs to efforts undertaken by the country to improve the conditions of foreign workers associated with various developmental projects, including those related to 2022 World Cup.

Qatar's Ambassador to Germany Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al Khulaifi delivered a lecture at German parliament (Bundestag) on Qatar's preparations to host 2022 FIFA world cup as well as its efforts to improve the conditions of expatriate workers.

The lecture was delivered in response to an invitation from members of the country's ruling party Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in Bundestag's Foreign Relations Committee.

It was attended by Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee MP Dr Norbert Rottgen, and Foreign Affairs Spokesman in the Bundestag for the CDU MP Philipp Missfelder, in addition to a number of prominent German MPs.

He denied allegations by some German media that Qatar is financing terrorism and downplayed Qatar's efforts aimed at improving living conditions for expatriate workers while focusing on false accusations, reports QNA.

He added that some German politicians seek to attract media attention by attacking Qatar. The envoy also rejected accusations of financing terrorism, stressing that Qatar played a key role in the war against terrorism.

The German parliament members appreciated Qatar's position, and praised the level of bilateral relations between Qatar and Germany.
