Doctors told to write reports in English

DOHA: The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has asked all doctors to use English to prepare “patient referrals” and medical reports. A circular issued by the Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety Department at SCH to all public and private health care facilities in Qatar has asked them to advise their medical staff to strictly comply with this rule. An official of a private hospital told this daily yesterday their doctors are using only English for medical prescriptions. “However, there are some patients who insist for medical reports to be written in Arabic,” he said. He said the SCH had informed hospitals about plans to introduce a special software for medical prescriptions. 
“Already there are instructions to use English for prescriptions. May be they are now strictly implementing it as a preparation for launching the software,” he added. The Peninsula
