KANPUR--Days after a journalist was burnt to death by a minister for posting a negative Facebook post, a scribe associated with a local newspaper was shot at in Naubasta area allegedly by four bike-borne assailants, police said on Thursday.

City SSP Shalabh Mathur said that Deepak Mishra (30), a permanent resident of district Mainpuri was returning home yesterday when four men on two motorcycles surrounded him and opened fire.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition after he suffered bullet injuries in his hip and shoulders, he said, adding that his condition is out of danger now.

During interrogation, Mishra has named Raja Pandey, Jitu Pandey, Sachin Pandey and an unidentified man who allegedly shot at him in connection with an old feud, he said.
