Aspire Academy’s Life Skills competition featured boys’ teams from local independent and private schools.
Organised for the fourth consecutive year, Aspire Academy’s Life Skills competition has reached a successful conclusion, with Aspire Academy students clinching the win. The competition featured boys’ teams from local independent and private schools and comprised several sporting activities that tested students in feats of teamwork and decision making. While Aspire Academy took home the competition’s title, all the boys taking part in the yearly event left the Aspire Dome with new valuable leadership skills under their belt.
Speaking about the tournament, Badr Jassim Al Hay, Director of Education and Student Care at Aspire Academy, said: “We would like to thank all the schools that took part in the competition. With this initiative, we hope to inspire not only Aspire Academy’s students, but all young people in Qatar. The competition is derived from the Academy’s ‘Ehteraf’ programme, which is an important initiative that teaches young kids valuable life skills such as responsibility, respect for others, time management, teamwork and goal-setting. These young children will one day grow up to be Qatar’s future leaders, and Aspire Academy aims to play a leading role in their development and wellbeing.”
In all, six local independent and private schools took part in the tournament. Participating schools included: Al Furqan Private School for Boys; Omar Bin Al Khattab School (who won second and third place respectively); Hamza Bin Abdul Muttalib Independent School; Al-Andalus Private School; Aljazeera Academy; and Al Maha Academy.
Abdulaziz Al Naama, from Aljazeera Academy, commented on his team’s participation saying: “Even though our school didn’t win the title, we really enjoyed the game and challenged ourselves in this competition. We were all playing as a team, with a common goal of winning. It was a lot of fun and we hope to take part in future competitions.”
The Life Skills competition is an annual competition, organised by Aspire Academy’s Leadership Department. The tournament is a part of department’s ‘Ehteraf’ programme (translates into ‘becoming a pro’ in Arabic).
