Doha, Qatar : Reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility and community care, the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) partnered with Qatar Charity during the holy month of Ramadan to deliver a dedicated Iftar meal initiative supporting campus workers.
Through this year’s initiative, 500 Iftar meals were distributed to essential campus workers across multiple colleges and departments.
The programme reflects the University’s appreciation for the individuals whose daily contributions sustain the campus environment. The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the Qatari Students Association, where student volunteers organised the logistical aspects, prepared the meal packages, and supervised the distribution process.
This active role reflects the commitment of University of Doha for Science and Technology students to promoting a culture of social responsibility and empowering students to translate the values of solidarity and generosity into practical initiatives that contribute to serving the community and strengthening the spirit of compassion.
Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST, highlighted the broader impact of the initiative, stating, “Ramadan represents an opportunity to strengthen community connection and reaffirm our shared responsibility toward one another.
“We proudly acknowledge Qatar Charity and our student volunteers for their commitment and collaboration in ensuring the continued success of this annual event. At UDST, we believe that community engagement is an essential component of education. Initiatives such as this encourage empathy, leadership, and social awareness among our students while honouring the dedication of our campus workforce.”
For workers fasting during Ramadan while maintaining shift-based responsibilities, access to a shared Iftar moment can be limited. By organising on-campus meal distribution, UDST aimed to ensure inclusivity and appreciation for those serving throughout the month.
Ahmed Yousef Fakhroo, Executive Director of Communications and Community Impact at Qatar Charity, expressed his appreciation for the initiative, stating, “We are proud of our partnership with the University of Doha for Science and Technology in this blessed initiative, which reflects the true spirit of giving during the holy month of Ramadan.
“Providing Iftar meals to campus workers is a gesture that carries noble humanitarian values and aligns with Qatar Charity’s mission to promote solidarity and support those who contribute greatly to our communities.
“We also commend the efforts of the Qatari Student Association for their active involvement and outstanding organisation, as such joint initiatives strengthen community bonds and reinforce the concept of social responsibility.”
The partnership reflects a shared commitment between UDST and Qatar Charity to advance initiatives that enhance solidarity, dignity, and social cohesion. As Ramadan continues, the University remains dedicated to promoting volunteer engagement and strengthening bonds within its diverse community.
