Doha: Ooredoo congratulated the record-breaking number of its female employees who took part in the 2016 edition of the GOAL Sports Tournament.
During the closing ceremony, medals were presented to the winners by Ahlam Salem M Al Mana, President, Qatar Woman’s Sport Committee (QWSC); and Mohammed Jassim Al Kuwari, Chief Corporate Services Officer, Ooredoo.
It was the third female GOAL tournament, which is designed as a team-building exercise for female employees of the company.
A total of 216 female players from the company took part in activities such as volleyball, shooting, table-tennis and table-football.
Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo, said: “We had a 50 percent rise in the number of players taking part this year, figures I’m proud of.
“We launched the tournament so that our employees could represent their departments and have some fun, and I’m ecstatic to see such a positive turnout in our third year. We believe in championing women and hope everyone had a good time.” In addition to matches, the company also held a children’s zone, attended by 127. The tournament took place at the QWSC premises. Highlights included a nail-biting final volleyball match between New Line of Business and the Contact Centre Team and a skilled final shoot off.
