DOHA: A hat-trick by national team striker Sebastian Soria yesterday helped Qatar Stars League (QSL) champions Lekhwiya thrash Al Wakra 4-0 in their round 15 clash.
Soria struck three times (52, 56 and 70) as Lekhwiya posted their fourth successive win.
The fourth goal was scored by Youssef Msakni who found the net in the 28th minute.
The match was played at Al Wakra Stadium.
With their timely win yesterday, Lekhwiya have closed gap on current points leaders Al Sadd who have a tally of 37 from 14 rounds.
Lekhwiya have a tally of 34 points from 15 matches.
In third position are Al Rayyan with 26 points.
Al Saddd take on Al Sailiyah in their round 15 match at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium today.
In another game yesterday, Umm Salal and Al Kharaitiyat played out a 1-1 draw.
Aziz Ansari scored for Al Kharaitiyat in the 47th minute. In the second half, Umm Salal found the equaliser through reliable Cabore who scored in the 76th minute.
In an earlier game, hosts Qatar SC drew 1-1 with struggling Al Arabi at Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium.
Striker Mohammed Razzaq opened the scoring for Qatar SC while Wanderley Santos found the equaliser for Al Arabi.
In the day’s other matches today, Eljaish play Al Gharafa while Al Rayyan host Al Khor. THE PENINSULA
