QRDI Council hosts innovation diplomacy panel at Doha Forum

Doha: Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) Council participated in the prestigious Doha Forum, one of the world’s leading gatherings for policymakers, thought leaders, and experts to discuss global issues and explore solutions to the most pressing challenges facing the international community. 

The council organized a high-level panel discussion on “Leveraging Science and Technology Innovations for Diplomacy.” The panel addressed the critical role of science and technology in fostering international collaboration to tackle pressing global challenges. 

The discussion delved into innovative approaches to reframing our understanding of technology while identifying actionable strategies for advancing diplomacy in transformative ways. Esteemed experts from diverse sectors will contribute their insights, including Hussain Abdullah, Senior Adviser at Rhymes AI; H E Jeroen Cooreman, Vice-Minister (Director-General) for Bilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belgium; Dr. Hilal Lashuel, Research, Development & Innovation Advisor to the Chairperson and Executive Director of RDI at Qatar Foundation; Dr. Héctor Cárdenas Suárez, President-elect of the Consejo Mexicano de Asuntos Internacionales (COMEXI); and Dr. Iyabo Tinubu-Karch, CEO of Sidra Medicine.

Dr. Hilal Lashuel, Research, Development & Innovation Advisor to the Chairperson & Executive Director of RDI at Qatar Foundation said: “I am proud to highlight some of the contributions of Qatar Precision Medicine and the community of precision health in Qatar. Supported by QRDI Council and other entities, investments in biobanking and genomic technologies have enabled Qatar to play an active role in addressing the gap by incorporating genomic information from the Arab population and the region. Furthermore, Qatar serves as a bridge between advanced nations and those with limited resources.

Dr. Iyabo Tinubu-Karch, CEO of Sidra Medicine said: “We are in an era of rapid advancements in technology. Tech advancements mean we can create an environment where we can perform surgeries faster with lower complications providing access to those countries who don’t have the opportunities.”
