Doha, Qatar: Qatari heritage researcher Mohamed Al Blouchi has reflected on the early days of cinema in Qatar and its evolution from a new window onto the world into a means of understanding and creating images.
Speaking in the latest episode of the Ajyal Show, produced by the Doha Film Institute, Al Blouchi explored how cinema developed in Qatar while highlighting the role of local memory, heritage and place-based stories in shaping the future of filmmaking.
Al Blouchi, a heritage expert with four decades of experience across culture, museums and heritage, has directed Qatar’s pavilions at several World Expos. His publications include works documenting various aspects of Qatari heritage, including Traditional Qatari Dhows, Pearl Diving in Qatar: Documentation and Authentication, Qatar in the Arab Press, Pioneers of Knowledge and Education in Qatar.
