Geneva: The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor accused the Israeli occupation of selective and double standards in dealing with reports from international organizations concerning the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement Monday, the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor indicated that Israel is ignoring what was stated in UNICEF reports documenting the killing of 265 Palestinian children since the announcement of the ceasefire, at a rate of one child per day, as a result of bombing, shooting and the use of drones, inside homes and schools.
It emphasized that Israel continues to falsify facts to absolve itself of the crime of starving civilians in the Gaza Strip, through selective and misleading use of data issued by the UNICEF Nutrition Cluster for 2026, with the aim of denying the famine indicators announced by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification for 2025.
The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said that the percentage promoted by Israel, which is 0.5 percent, is based exclusively on the "weight-for-height" index to measure acute malnutrition, while ignoring other more comprehensive indicators.
It indicated that this percentage practically means that one in every 77 children under the age of five suffers from acute malnutrition during the study period, while emphasizing that these data reflect a limited period of time and do not include previous or subsequent cases or repeated relapses.
It pointed out that Israel ignored a key indicator in assessing the nutritional status of children, namely "stunting," which reached 12.2 percent, equivalent to approximately one in eight children, an indicator that reflects long-term nutritional deprivation and chronic stress, which cannot be measured by the limited wasting indicator on which the Israeli narrative was based.
