Jakarta:  President of Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) Hamad Abdulrahman Al Attiyah has been elected as President of the Asian Equestrian Federation in the elections held today in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, in the presence of 33 members of the AEF.
In a new achievement added to the Qatari sports records, Al Attiyah managed to win at the expense of his UAE rival Ghanim Al Hajri. Al Attiyah received 20 votes against five votes for Al Hajri.

The newly elected office bearers and members of the Asian Equestrian Federation pose for a photograph during the general assembly held in Jakarta, Indonesia yesterday.

Al Attiyah will complete the remaining term of the council, which expires next year, after the resignation of the former AEF President.
The QEF President has made a strong and successful program that could make radical changes in the AEF to reach the desired level that is in line with the aspirations of Member States. Al Attiyah’s program aims to bring about reforms that restore Asian equestrian, modernise the AEF and develop its administrative and technical structure.
Two months ago, at an extraordinary meeting of the AEF, Qatar succeeded in obtaining the approval of the majority of the members for holding an emergency General Assembly of the continental federation, within 60 days, to elect a new President.
