Doha, Qatar: In a significant step towards advancing Qatar’s digital transformation agenda, the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau (CGB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), has organised a comprehensive series of training workshops aimed at enhancing the digital capabilities of government employees.

The initiative underscores Qatar’s commitment to building a future-ready public sector workforce equipped to harness emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), to drive efficiency, innovation, and excellence in public service delivery. Aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030, the workshops focus on empowering civil servants to meet the evolving demands of a knowledge-based economy.

According to details shared by the CGB yesterday, the training programmes emphasise practical skills in digital tools that can transform day-to-day government operations. A key highlight is the integration of Microsoft 365 applications to improve productivity, streamline workflows, and foster seamless institutional collaboration across various entities.

Participants are being trained on leveraging these platforms to modernise work methodologies, enhance inter-departmental coordination, and create more agile administrative processes. The workshops also delve into the strategic application of AI technologies in critical areas such as project management, data-driven decision-making, and boosting team performance.

Special sessions cover smart automation solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform and Copilot, enabling employees to automate routine tasks, optimise resource allocation, and improve overall operational efficiency. By adopting these advanced tools, government agencies aim to reduce administrative burdens, accelerate service delivery, and cultivate a more innovative work environment.

The CGB, the primary body responsible for human resource development and government modernisation in Qatar, views these workshops as integral to its broader strategy of national capacity building. The Bureau continues to play a pivotal role in aligning public sector skills with national development priorities, including digital governance and technological sovereignty. Officials highlighted that the training not only equips participants with technical know-how but also promotes a culture of continuous learning and adaptability.

This is essential as Qatar accelerates its digital transformation journey, particularly in light of ambitious projects under the National Development Strategy and preparations for sustained economic diversification beyond hydrocarbons.

Experts participating in the sessions noted the growing importance of AI and automation in public administration.

Tools like Copilot, for instance, assist in generating insights, drafting reports, and enhancing analytical capabilities, allowing employees to focus on higher-value strategic tasks.

The initiative comes at a time when governments worldwide are racing to integrate AI into public services. Qatar’s proactive approach positions it as a regional leader in digital governance, ensuring that its civil service remains competitive and responsive to citizen needs.

The CGB encouraged all relevant government entities to actively participate in such programmes to maximise benefits and contribute to the realisation of a smart, efficient, and citizen-centric government. Further workshops are expected to be rolled out in the coming months as part of an ongoing capacity-building drive.

This concerted effort reflects Qatar’s vision of investing in its most valuable resource, its human capital, to achieve sustainable development and long-term prosperity.
