Doha, Qatar: Minister of Municipality H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah participated in the opening of GreenTech Amsterdam 2026, held in the Kingdom of the Netherlands from 9 to 11 June 2026.

The exhibition is one of the world’s leading international events dedicated to agricultural technology, innovation, and food security.

During the official VIP tour of the exhibition, the Minister reviewed the latest innovations and technological solutions in smart agriculture, greenhouse technologies, and water resource management, in addition to artificial intelligence applications used in the agricultural sector and the advanced solutions they provide to enhance production efficiency, improve natural resource management, and promote sustainability.

The exhibition serves as a global platform that brings together governments, institutions, companies, and experts from around the world to showcase the latest technologies and innovative solutions in modern agriculture, horticulture, agricultural sustainability, and food security. It also promotes knowledge exchange, the sharing of expertise, and the exploration of international cooperation and partnership opportunities.

Al Attiyah also reviewed the latest artificial intelligence applications in the agricultural sector, which play a pivotal role in advancing food production systems through the analysis of agricultural data, forecasting potential challenges and risks, improving water and energy-use efficiency, and supporting data-driven decision-making. Artificial intelligence is recognised as a key enabler of food security, providing innovative solutions to increase agricultural productivity, reduce waste, enhance the efficiency of food supply chains, and strengthen resilience to climate-related challenges.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Minister of Municipality held a number of bilateral meetings with senior participating officials. He met with Minister of Food Security, Fisheries and Horticulture of the Kingdom of the Netherlands H E Silvio Erkens, during which they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in modern agriculture, advanced agricultural technologies, and food security, as well as opportunities to further develop partnerships between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.

The Minister also met with Minister of Climate Change and Environment of the United Arab Emirates H E Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak. The two sides reviewed areas of mutual cooperation and explored opportunities for exchanging expertise in fields related to food security and agricultural sustainability, in support of efforts to develop and strengthen the sustainability of the agricultural sector.

Al Attiyah affirmed that Qatar’s participation in this international event reflects Qatar’s commitment to keeping pace with rapid advancements in the agricultural sector and benefiting from the latest global technologies and innovations, thereby supporting national efforts to further develop the food security system, enhance agricultural sustainability, and improve the efficiency of local production.
