DOHA: A criminal court is hearing a case involving a man who lost his life because he allegedly took money from two acquaintances promising them work visas.
The duo, who has been accused of killing the man, told investigators that they murdered him because he had taken QR45,000 from them to provide them two work visas and was neither returning the money nor giving them the visas.
The body of the deceased was accidentally discovered by a patrol team of sleuths from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ministry of Interior.
The team while it was patrolling a deserted area outside of Doha heard a mobile phone ring.
They followed the sound of the ring and when they reached near it they were shocked to see a dead body lying there in a pool of blood.
The patrol team called in ambulance and the police. The mobile phone found near the dead body was scanned and text messages therein revealed that its owner had taken cash from some people for illegal visa trade.
The investigators checked the calls received on the phone and tried to call back those people but in vain as there was no response.
The police eventually zeroed in on the duo who was suspected of having killed the man, who was an Asian. Ths suspects are also Asian.
One of the suspects was about to fly home and had acquired exit permit.
The duo confessed to the crime during interrogation and said they killed the victim in cold blood and in a pre-intended way.
They told investigators that they took him to an under-construction building and hit him on the head with a hammer.
The victim tried to run for his life but they caught him and hit him again and when he died, dumped his body in a deserted area. The duo said they threw the hammer in the sea.
They, however, forgot to take away the victim’s mobile phone which led to their arrest, reports Al Sharq. The case is being heard by the criminal court.
