Security forces capture BIFF camp, retrieve SAF44 uniform

Government security forces captured a Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) camp in Datu Unsay town, Maguindanao following a clash with the brigand group and recovered a Philippine National Police – Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) uniform believed owned by one of 44 slain police commandos during the botched Mamasapano operation.

Capt. Jo Ann D. Petinglay, Army 6th Infantry Division (6ID) spokesperson, said that at around 7:00 a.m.Monday, troops of the 601st Brigade along with the 10th Scout Ranger Company figured in a firefight with BIFF gunmen in Barangay Macalag, Datu Unsay town.

The bandits fled after a 15-minute exchange of fire with the soldiers.

After scouring the encounter site, the troops recovered an improvised cal. 7.62 rifle.
