MoL: 192 citizens recruited by private sector in April

Doha: The Ministry of Labour announced the recruitment of 192 male and female job seekers in the private sector during April 2022.

The Ministry’s Statistical Bulletin, which includes the most prominent statistics and figures of the labour sector in Qatar, as well as the results of inspection visits to various establishments, indicated that the recruitments were distributed among the sectors as follows: Finance and insurance sectors - 74 jobs, energy and industry - 27, IT and telecom sector -24, services and transportation - 25, real estate and contracting -12, private entities -  26s, and hospitality sector - 4 jobs.

The ministry stated that the key companies that were among the most cooperative in employing citizens during April were Qatar National Bank (9 jobs), Doha Bank (13), Dukhan Bank (22), Dlala Brokerage and Investment Holding Company (7), Qatar Foundation (4), Aspire Zone (12), Vodafone Qatar (17) , BEIN Sports (5), Katara Hospitality (3), Msheireb Properties (2), Qatari Diar Real Estate Company  (2), Waseef Asset Management Company  (3), Qatar Ports Management Company (2), Al Rayyan for Media and Marketing Company  (3) and RKH  (3  jobs).

The ministry’s efforts since the beginning of the year have contributed to the employment of 529 male and female citizens in private sector companies and entities, distributed as follows: 103 citizens during January, 114 in February, 120 in March, and 192 citizens in April.

The statistical bulletin showed that the ministry received about 5,121 requests for new jobs, of which 3,947 requests were approved, and 1,174 were rejected, while the number of requests to modify the profession totaled about 2,792 requests in which 2,779 were approved and only 13 were rejected.

According to the bulletin, the number of requests for work permits rendered to the MoL during April 2022 amounted to about 1,290 requests, including 589 to renew permit, 498 requests to issue new permit, and 203 to cancel issued permits, while zero requests to issue a replacement.

Regarding inspection visits to recruitment offices, the statistical bulletin showed that MoL carried out about 41 inspection rounds on recruitment offices, which resulted in directing the total closure of one office, issuing one warning, and issuing three minutes.

During April 2022, the Labour Inspection Department conducted intensive inspection campaigns to monitor the extent to which establishments comply with the laws and ministerial decisions concerned with regulating the labour market in the country, with a total number of 11,907 inspection visits in various regions, which resulted in the seizure of 514 violations and the ban of 106 facilities, while the number of alerts to companies to remove violations. About 2,078 alerts.

With regard to labour complaints, the statistical bulletin showed that the Department of Labour Relations received through the unified platform complaints from workers against the establishment with about 3,731 complaints, of which 208 were settled, 1,164 were referred and approximately 2,359 complaints are still under the procedure.

The number of cases referred to dispute resolution committees during April accounted to about 978 cases, and the total number of decisions issued by labour dispute resolution committees reached around 360 cases, and the total number of decisions that are still under procedure stood at 466 cases.
